Our Story

Moodytown Gardens was founded in 2010 by Jarret Haiss and Johanna Burdet. They started farming on Johanna’s parent’s land in Cornville and quickly spread to farming two different locations. In 2012 the couple purchased their own farm in Palmyra. The farm had been uninhabited for over six years and needed much TLC to be brought back to being a productive farm.

The couple completely renovated the home and started working on the land. They cut back fence lines and rock walls, worked on improving soil fertility, jacked the barn (several times), put-up hoop houses, planted apple trees and perennials, put on a new roof, and many more projects.

Restoring the farm is an ongoing, perpetual project that is extremely rewarding and at times exhaustive.

The most recent projects have been building a new equipment shed, a cow shed, clearing a new 6 acre field, purchasing a cabin for apprentices, and improving paddocks for pigs and fencing for the cows. Upcoming projects may include building a new wash/pack house, creating and installing an irrigation system, and building a new barn.

Moodytown Gardens produces fresh, organic, high quality produce from their land with their hands.

“We want to give our customers high quality produce at fair prices. Farming is not simply a business for us it’s our chosen way of life. We are living our dream and we hope it shows.” -Johanna
